I am looking for people on self direction in Twin Falls. I have an adult son. He enjoys being with his friends in his current program, but I believe he is much more capable and could benefit from self direction. I feel like I need much more information and would appreciate comments.

    Addie,
Our son is new to SD (Nov ’11) and we love it. He was living in his own home about one mile away and when he went on SD he moved in with us (after being on his own for about 16 years). We found SD to be a wonderful fit for our family at this time, but if he had been in his own apt./home it may have been a challenge to make the budget work for the overnight staffing that he would have needed. My husband and I do supports here at home with no pay that others were doing before, therefore the budget works. I think this is the case with other families as well, though I know that there are some who do live independently and have good workers.
We live in Boise. I would encourage you to seriously consider SD. We really appreciate the freedom from ‘regulations’ and find the services to be much more natural.
